Darren's expressions are so fun to contrast with Javiera. I really struggled with how to end this strip: should she be looking surprised, shocked, stupefied?... I ended up going with hysterical laughter because, as I was going over old IJWHs, it hit me Javiera doesn't smile much. It's not that she doesn't have anything to smile about, but dealing with the crazies in her office tends to illicit expressions more closely related to shock and exasperation than laughter. I'm going to try and give her more to laugh about in the future, she needs to smile more.
On another note, I'm going to keep trying to do IJWH weekly! The drafting process is really starting to click now that story arcs and characters are developing. I'm also finding I enjoy IJWH much more because the stories and characters are developing. I'm working on another comic strip- more on that to come very soon- so if I find I can update IJWH while still working on that strip, IJWH will officially become a weekly strip. YAY!
