"I Just Work Here" presents: And Behind Door Number One...
After a few weeks' buildup, I can FINALLY introduce The Frunch! I've been waiting a long time for this. Mrs. Frunchinelli, or The Frunch, is the second of the character contest winners. The idea came from Mrs. Cathy P. in Virginia, and the idea was simply brilliant. She suggested having a supervisor that wasn't mean, per say, but scared the living snot out of everyone in the office. She's a heavy chain smoker, even indoors (no, that's not allowed, but management is too scared of her to stop her), so you never see her face. She wanders about the building, watching for unwary employees. But she's smart. She knows her policy through and through, and while she's intimidating she isn't unhelpful; one way or another, she gets the job done and will help others do theirs.
The idea was so thorough and well thought-out (proof that readers are often smarter than me), I haven't deviated too far from the description I was given. By far what I'm enjoying most about The Frunch is building up her reputation as one not to mess with. The fact I get to turn Javiera into a nervous wreck in the meantime is simply a bonus.
