Unfortunately, any time you work in Social Services, your vacation planning invariably includes how in the world you'll survive coming back to the presents people will leave all over your desk. I know I for one will only ever take a break if the benefits of going away outweigh the risks of what I'll find when I come back.
I am wholeheartedly convinced that clients and coworkers alike have an innate "vacation radar" that goes haywire the minute you leave the office, because suddenly when you come back EVERYONE needed you for EVERYTHING, and THANK GOODNESS you came back because they all would have DIED if you had stayed away another day. But when you're actually there? Do they ever need much of anything? Noooooooooo.....
